ALUMINUM WHEN IT MATTERS
When it comes to fitness training and peak performance, nothing is more detrimental to flying fast than carrying more weight than you need to. Which is why every Allegro is built with lightweight triple-butted 6061 aluminum tubing. In fact, our aluminum Allegro frames shed 14 ounces over their steel Coda counterparts. We design comfort into the naturally stiffer ride by specifying large volume 32c tires, using similar geometry as our Codas and then adding a few millimeters to the wheelbase length for just a tad more compliance.
ABSOLUTE VERSATILITY
Every Allegro offers a full complement of eyelets and rack mounts to simplify installation of carriers and fenders. We even include bosses on the underside of the seatstays for installation of a ring lock. Ring locks are tremendously popular in Europe and will soon most assuredly be popular in the USA. A simple turn of the key immobilizes the rear wheel and prevents someone from riding off with your bike.
BRAKE DANCE
Linear pull brakes are powerful stoppers, but the length of their arms was originally developed for mountain bikes: they needed to be tall enough to allow the brake cable that stretched from the top of one arm to the other to clear the fat & knobby MTB tire. With smooth treaded 700 x 32c tires, the Allegros don’t need brake arms that long. Enter the mini-vee. Long enough to provide plenty of power, with room for fenders. Short enough to look really good on the Allegro. These mini “V” brakes offer powerful stopping while maintaining ample tire clearance for fender mounting.
TOP FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
The 24-speed Shimano Rapidfire shifting drivetrain with 48/38/28 Shimano FC-M171 crankset, Shimano RD-M360 rear derailleur, and 11-32t cassette offers a much larger gear range, with much lower gearing, for easier hill climbing, than standard 53/39 or compact 50/34 two ring road bike drivetrains.
Tektro’s mini “V” brakes offer stop-on-a-dime braking performance with a power modulator on the front for safe, secure braking.
The Alex rim/Formula hub wheel set is light, but tough, for on or off-road durability, with excellent load carrying capability & handling.
Vittoria’s Randonneur 32c tires offer low rolling resistance for a fast ride with more air volume and a wider footprint than 25 or 28c tires for a comfortable, confidence-inspiring ride. A Double Shield puncture-resistant barrier increases safety, security and peace of mind.
Our Jamis Trekking saddle is broader and more deeply padded than other road saddles, but is still narrow & firm enough to promote higher cadence peddling.
