“All three models in this category had aluminum frames, but the Icon’s was the most forgiving—over one stretch of broken tarmac, it proved to be significantly smoother than the others. “It was a bastion of calm in a sea of tumult,” said one test rider. Another observed that the Icon Elite “was smooth and lively, just like you’d want a good bike—of any material—to be.” “EDITORIAL REVIEW
After we spent several days and many miles evaluating bikes in this category, the defining moment for many of us arrived on a short section of Bailey Mill Road. There, the pavement rose swiftly, dropped into a sweeping bend to the left, made a tight right, and then disintegrated into crumbles just before rolling over a bridge. On that stretch the Icon proved to be smoother than the others, even if it was less quick. All three models in this category had aluminum frames, but the Icon’s stood out as the most forgiving. “The impact where the road met the bridge surface was far less jarring, which allowed me to immediately accelerate across the rough surface,” said one rider. Another called the bike’s poised ride “a bastion of calm in a sea of tumult.” A third reviewer observed that the Jamis “was smooth and lively, just like you’d want a good bike—of any material—to be.”
ICON
COMPETITION ALUMINUM
We knew the Icon was going to be a winner when we first introduced it in 2013, but the accolades since it’s introduction just two years ago have blown us away: the Elite has been awarded Bicycling Magazine’s coveted Editor’s Choice award two years running! It’s not too hard to figure out why. With an alloy frame that is just as light as our carbon fiber Xenith Comp and a frame geo inspired by our peloton-proven Xenith SL, the Icon sprints like a missile with a “connected” road feel that inspires confidence.
