Please have your dealer contact our warranty department and we will try our best to accommodate your request for model and color. At the very least we would supply your dealer with a frame color or frame and fork that match.
I have a problem with my JAMIS bike that I think falls under the warranty. What steps should I take? Please take the frame back to the dealer you purchased it from. They will conduct an initial warranty evaluation, and then contact us.

PURCHASING A JAMIS
Where can I buy a JAMIS bike? You can only purchase a JAMIS bike from authorized dealers. For a list of dealers please visit dealer search on our website.

I live in another country than the U.S. and want to purchase a JAMIS bike. What do I do? JAMIS Bicycles currently has international distribution in 52 different countries around the world. We suggest that you check our distribution first, of which information is accessible online. If you cannot find a distributor in your country, please contact us and we will attempt to locate the distributor closest to you and ship a bicycle to you.
There are no JAMIS dealers anywhere close to where I live. What can I do to purchase a JAMIS model? If you haven’t found a location of a dealer that is close to you with the dealer search tool on our website, send us the location of where you are via our Contact Us page. We will then contact your area’s outside rep and see if there is a dealer we can contact closer to you.
The JAMIS model I am looking for isn’t available in my shop in my home country anymore and I was told it couldn’t be re-ordered. What can I do? Your best option is to contact the distributor in your home country and see if they can locate the model for you. Another option would be to see if you can find the bike in another country, but then you would have to buy and ship it from there.
I like riding trails and want to buy a new bicycle. What can you recommend? It is impossible for us to recommend a bicycle for you with the limited amount of information you’ve provided. We would suggest contacting a JAMIS dealer and let them know your riding style, where you plan to ride and your budget. They can show you several models, which would be appropriate.
I was trying to order a JAMIS Taxi through my dealer but they say you can’t deliver the size I am looking for. What is the reason for that? The Taxi model is a special make up for rental accounts and is designed for heavy use situations. It is generally a special order bike for resorts and businesses. Businesses order them in larger quantities and the bikes are shipped direct to them. This is the reason we generally don’t inventory this model.
I am very interested in a JAMIS model but my local dealer doesn’t have one in stock. As I would like to confirm that the fit is good, I am reluctant to order the bike without seeing it in person. Is there a way to locate a JAMIS bike that is sitting on a showroom floor at a dealer close to me? We do not have a way of tracking what each JAMIS dealer has in stock. However, if you give us the model name you are looking for we will have our sales staff contact you to recommend the shop, which will be your best bet in having this model in stock.
Which touring models are there in the JAMIS lineup? Our touring models are within the Aurora series, consisting of the Aurora and Aurora Elite.

Can I add travel to my rear suspension by swapping to a shock with a longer stroke or by modifying links? No, the shock, link and travel specification on each bicycle are exact measurements in terms of clearance and function. If any changes are applied to either one of the items, warranty becomes void and serious damage to bike or injury to the rider can occur.
My rear suspension on my older model year full-suspension bike doesn’t seem to work very well anymore. Should I purchase a new shock to replace the old one? We do not recommend purchasing a new shock for your bike but working on improving the one you have installed. One of the most important things is to set the sag of your rear suspension correctly (please see more details on how to set the sag correctly under the ‘how do I set the sag on my rear suspension’ question). Then adjust the settings on your rear shock according to the instruction manual. Also, be sure that all of the pivots and bearings are in good working order. Replacement parts are available from your local JAMIS dealer.
I want to upgrade my rear shock from one company brand to another. I need the correct mounting hardware for the new shock. Is the correct hardware size available through JAMIS or can you supply the correct dimensions so I can contact the manufacturer of the shock? If you supply the model year and model name of your JAMIS bike we can get you the correct dimensions for the shock hardware. However, you will have to get the mounting hardware from the manufacturer of the shock.
How do I get information on what rear shock hardware I need to replace it on my JAMIS bike? In order to determine the exact model and model year of your bike please see a local JAMIS dealer: Jamis Dealer Search. They will be able to order and install the correct replacement kit.
What size shock and what stroke does the rear shock of my full-suspension model have? In order to determine the exact model and model year of your bike please see a local JAMIS dealer: Jamis Dealer Search. They will be able to determine the correct measurements.
I was thinking about upgrading from a Fox DHX Air 3.0 to a Fox RP23 for weight savings and lockout capabilities on my all-mountain bike. Are there any downsides to this? The only negative effect would be that the Fox RP23 wouldn’t be able to handle larger hits as well and might fade a bit over a long downhill run compared to a Fox DHX Air shock.
Is there a bushing and pivot replacement kit available for a JAMIS full-suspension bike? Pivot and bushing replacement kits are available. Your JAMIS dealer can order the necessary kit for your bike. If you are not sure what exact model or model year your bike is, please take your bike to a JAMIS dealer so they can determine your needs.
Where can I get pivot replacement kits for my dual suspension bike? You can get pivot replacement kits at your JAMIS dealer.
Is it possible to substitute OEM parts that come with a JAMIS bicycle to different ones when purchasing a model? You will need to address substitution of parts with your dealer.
Is it possible to change the 53/39 crankset that comes with the JAMIS Xenith Pro to a compact crankset at the time of purchase and would there be any extra costs associated with the switch? Your JAMIS dealer can make these changes to customize the bike to your liking. You will have to contact them to see if there is going to be an additional charge.
When replacing 700×23 tires with wider 700×25 tires, can you still use the same inner tubes that came with the thinner tires? Yes, you can use the original tubes for these tires.
BIKE FITTING
What size bike do I need? Sizing is a complicated issue and not something we can recommend from your height or inseam. People’s torsos as well as leg and arm lengths can greatly vary how you fit on a bicycle. Your JAMIS dealer is experienced in fitting people with varying body types for bikes with different styles and can assist in finding the proper size bike to help you enjoy your ride. If you are making a considerable investment in your new JAMIS bike, you might consider scheduling a fit session with a shop experienced in custom fitting.
What are the benefits of JAMIS’ Femme women-specific bikes? All our Femme models feature frame and fork geometry adjusted to women’s bodies to ensure the best possible fit and best possible riding posture. This means frame angles, front centers and fork rakes have all been refined. Then we specify broader-based, shorter-nosed saddles, shorter stems, narrower handlebars, and shorter cranks to fully optimize fit and ride experience.
SETUP
How do I set sag on my rear suspension? 1. Place your bike next to a wall to steady yourself, and get on board. Sit as you would when riding, and then gently rock back and forth to settle the suspension into its sagged position. 2. Stop moving, reach down and slip the rubber ring (or if there is no rubber ring use a zip tie) on the shaft of the shock all the way against the seal of the shock. It is easier if someone can assist you with this procedure. 3. Step off the bike without bobbing on the suspension. 4. Measure the distance between where the rubber ring sits now on shock and the seal of the shock. Note, that there is no rule of thumb how many mm the distance should be, as the sag is measured on a percentage basis of the full travel of the shock. Therefore, you have to know what the maximum travel on the shock is, not the rear wheel. For example, if your shock has a maximum travel of 2 inches (50mm) in order to achieve sag of 20% the distance between the rubber ring and the shock seal should measure 0.4 inches (10mm) after checking the sag.
As a general rule of thumb start with these settings and then fine-tune them depending on your specific riding style and preference. Cross-Country Race: 12% Cross-Country: 15% All-Mountain: 20% Freeride, Downhill: 30%
How do I set up my front and rear suspension? For proper set up and maintenance please consult the owners manual for the suspension fork and/or rear shock that you received with your bicycle. If you did not receive the manual(s) please contact the fork or shock manufacturer and they can send you one, or download one from their website.
I have problems with my air-suspended rear suspension, as it seems to bob quite heavily when I am pedaling out of the saddle. What can I do? The effect of bobbing can be emphasized if your rear shock doesn’t have enough air pressure in the main chamber. In order to setup the suspension according to your weight and riding style, you must set the sag of your suspension correctly (please see more details on how to set the sag correctly under the how do I set the sag on my rear suspension question). Certain shocks also feature adjustments that can help reduce bob apart from setting the sag correctly. For detailed setup of your rear shock please consult the owners manual for the rear shock that you received with your bicycle. If you did not receive the manual please contact shock manufacturer and they can send you one, or download one from their website.
How do I setup my saddle height to achieve proper leg extension? While much is up to personal preference here are some general rules to get you started. 1. Put on the type of shoes that you are riding with your bike. 2. Place your bike next to a wall to steady yourself, and get on board. 3. Adjust the saddle height so the heel of your foot touches the center of the pedal when your foot is fully extended. Again, these are general guidelines, but should provide a good start. Always make adjustments in very small increments (no more than about an eighth of an inch), and try to only make one adjustment at a time.
Where should I locate my saddle? While much is up to personal preference here are some general rules to get you started. 1. Cleat position (fore/aft). Rule of thumb is to position the cleat on the shoe so the ball of your foot is over the center of the pedal axle. 2. Saddle position (fore/aft). Conventional wisdom suggests that the fore/aft position of the saddle should be set so the rider’s knee is directly over the pedal spindle when the crank is in the horizontal forward position. First, make certain that the saddle height is correct for proper leg extension, then make the fore/aft adjustment until a plumb line dropped from the center of the rider’s knee (side of leg, directly behind knee cap) intersects the pedal spindle. Again, these are general guidelines, but should provide a good start. Always make adjustments in small increments (no more than about a quarter inch), and try to only make one adjustment at a time.
How do I lower my saddle? The Jamis Owner’s Manual gives instructions on how to adjust the saddle. If you don’t have an owner’s manual, you can download one here: Jamis Owner’s Manual
TECH SPECIFIC
What is SST size-specific tubing? JAMIS’ SST size-specific tubing engineering protocol employs smaller diameter frame sections for smaller frames and larger ones for bigger frames, for more consistent ride quality across all frame sizes.
We apply this technique in carbon, aluminum and steel, employing every trick in the book from hydroformed aluminum for directional stiffness to custom-spec tubing from the world’s best suppliers.
What is JAMIS’ MP3 suspension? The MP3 suspension provides a near-vertical rear axle path that reduces pedal kickback to nearly zero. The XCR MP3 multi-link design is optimized to shed weight and increase stiffness while providing fully active suspension.
What is the JAMIS OMNIAD frame lay-up technique? Our lightest, highest performing SL and Team frames are constructed with ultra-high modulus carbon fiber precisely applied in a specifically engineered lay-up we call OMNIAD. Especially unique to this process is the outer layer. The outer layer on most frames is made with a woven fiber intended for cosmetics only and is therefore generally constructed of lower modulus fiber. The tightly woven 1K cloth we use however is made with high modulus fiber, thereby contributing to the strength of the frame, allowing us to drive as much weight out of the frame as possible.
Is it a design flaw on cyclocross or road bikes when the front tire gets in contact or interferes with the rider’s toes, when the crank is rotated to the forward horizontal position and you turn the front wheel? All our bikes meet or exceed CPSC regulation in terms of wheel/toe overlap. That said however, smaller bikes where you use 700c wheels and try to shorten the top tube to fit people’s height are a challenge because you can only shorten it to a certain point before you encounter wheel/toe overlap. Another factor is that engineers can’t take every possible shoe size and location of the shoe on the pedal into account, so giving a definitive answer, on which size frame overlap is going to occur, is impossible. On most smaller frame bikes you will encounter some overlap, but you’d only encounter it when riding very slowly and turning around in tight confines while your pedal is in the exact spot where overlap could occur at that moment. You’d never turn the wheel that much when riding at any speed above a couple miles an hour. If a company did design a smaller frame bike without overlap, the steering geometry would be off and the handling characteristics would be less than optimal.
How do I measure the chainline on my bicycle? On a triple chainring setup, chainline is measured from the center of the down tube to the center chainring. On a double chainring setup it is measured from the center of the down tube to midway between large and small chainrings.
I noticed a defective tire after fixing a flat, where the bead parted only after riding it for a couple hundred miles. Are there any standards that components undergo before they get spec’d on a bike? Tires take a lot of abuse and see a lot of wear and tear. It might even be possible that the bead separated from tire because of the flat. It is very difficult to determine how long a tire should last, as it depends on pressure that is used, type of terrain ridden on, riding style, and weather conditions. However, JAMIS tests every product before we will spec it on a bike to be sure that it meets our standards.
Is there a weight limit to a JAMIS bicycle frame? While we don’t post weight limits on our bike, when you exceed the average weight of an adult rider compared to its size, you need to exercise caution when riding and may require some different components to help the bike endure the additional weight.
How do I adjust the Satori adjustable angle stem? If you have specific questions on the adjustment of your stem, your dealer should be able to provide you with a demonstration of how to adjust it properly.
MODEL SPECIFIC
Do the JAMIS Coda Elite and Comp models have rack eyelets for attaching a rack at the rear and/or fenders at the front? The Coda Comp had eyelets both front and rear to attach fenders and racks. The Coda Elite is a challenge with the disc brakes to mount either of these, due to the interference with the disc brake. However, there are fenders made by companies like SKS that attach to the seat stays or seat post and also racks from Delta and Topeak that can mount over the disc brakes or directly to the seat post.
Can I install fenders and a rear carrier on the JAMIS Aurora / Aurora Elite? Yes, a rear carrier and fenders can be installed on these models.
Does the JAMIS Sputnik come with cable guides on the frame for installation of a rear brake? Also, is a rear brake kit available? The Sputnik does not come with cable guides or stops for the brake cable. The cable housing needs to be attached to the top tube with zip ties. There is a brake kit available to dealers, that includes levers as well as a front and rear brake.
What is the maximum tire width to fit into the frame of a JAMIS Sputnik? Tire size will depend on brake clearance, but you should be able to fit 28mm tires.
There seems to be a part of the seat tube on my Steel/Carbon JAMIS Eclipse that prevents me from lowering my seatpost far enough. Should I try to remove what keeps the seatpost from lowering more or should I cut the seatpost? The section of the seat tube that is preventing the seatpost from fully inserting is the carbon tubing inside the chromoly steel seat area. If you cannot lower the seat enough for your size you can trim the seatpost for further insertion.
Is the fork of the JAMIS Sonic drilled to allow for mounting a front brake? Yes, the fork is drilled to accept a front brake.
What are the shock and mounting hardware measurements for a 2006 JAMIS Diablo bicycle? Shock length (eye to eye) measurement: 222mm Shock stroke: 70mm Mounting hardware rear: 8mm x 25.4mm Mounting hardware front: 8mm x 25.4mm
What are the shock and mounting hardware measurements for a 2004 JAMIS XLT bicycle? Shock length (eye to eye) measurement: 200mm Shock stroke: 50mm Mounting hardware rear: 6mm x 22.2mm Mounting hardware front: 6mm x 24mm
What is the difference between the JAMIS Xenith SL and Xenith Team frames and forks? The JAMIS Xenith SL and Xenith Team frames and forks are exactly the same except for the graphics and paint.
MAINTENANCE
How many times should I check my front and/or rear suspension? 1. Before every ride, ensure that the suspension fork and rear shock is operating properly. 2. After every 10 hours of use inspect the front fork to make sure there is no hydraulic oil leaking from the fork and that it is operating properly. 3. On the rear suspension, check shock mounting bolts and the pivot bolts for tightness. 4. For other areas that should be checked, consult your owner’s manual for your front fork and/or rear shock. 5. Once a month check for bearing wear. Place one hand on top of the rear tire, and grasp the seat post with the other. Try to move the rear wheel from side to side, if you feel any looseness take the bike to your JAMIS dealer for service.
Is there any maintenance I should perform on my full suspension bike? All maintenance and repairs should be performed by your JAMIS dealer.
How do I maintain my front and rear suspension? For proper maintenance please consult the owner’s manual for the suspension fork and/or rear shock that you received with your bicycle. If you did not receive the manual(s) please contact the fork or shock manufacturer and they can send you one, or download one from their website.
I have a scratch on my matte carbon frame. How can I fix this? For best results, dribble a little chain lube on the scratch and rub it in. This should hide most blemishes on the matte carbon. Do not use any kind of paint on the frame.
I bought a JAMIS bike online. How do I put it together? JAMIS Bicycles are only sold through authorized JAMIS Bicycle dealers. Purchasing a bicycle through our authorized dealer channel assures you of a quality build, and the correct fit. Any questions concerning assembly should be directed to your authorized JAMIS dealer.
How do you recommend cleaning my bike? We’d suggest keeping it clean with water only, or a very mild soap and water solution. Clean with a sponge or soft cloth rag. Do not spray directly onto the bike with a pressure hose, as water under pressure can potentially penetrate into bearings. Keeping your chain clean and lubricated will result in better shifting performance and longer life of your drivetrain.
What size bottom bracket does my bike need? Since there are a multitude of bottom bracket lengths and various spindle standards available, please see an authorized JAMIS dealer to define the exact size and requirements to replace your bottom bracket. For a list of dealers please visit Jamis Dealer Search on our website.
I want to keep my bike shining. Can car wax be safely used to polish bicycle frames? Due to some of the substances used in some car waxes we do not recommend using them on a bicycle. However, there is a bicycle product from Pedros called Bike Lust that will keep your bike shining like new.
